In a significant milestone marking its 40th Anniversary Signature Project and in tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Uncle Eddie’s Home, the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC) has recently formalized a partnership with the Association of Uncle Eddie’s Home through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

According to a release issued by the Rotary Club, the collaboration aims to facilitate a comprehensive upgrade and refurbishment of critical sections within the facility.

With generous funding support from LDS Charities, RCGC will spearhead various refurbishment initiatives, including enhancements to the second cottage, repairs to the roof in the southern wing, reconstruction of visitors’ and residents’ restrooms, electrical rewiring of the south wing, plumbing system upgrades, refurnishing of the dining area, refurbishing of the main pantry, and repainting of interior walls, among other essential improvements.

During a modest ceremony held on May 1, 2024, Mr. Peter Pompey, President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central, expressed profound gratitude for the collaboration and the invaluable financial assistance received.

He underscored the club’s commitment to making a meaningful impact by executing projects aligned with Rotary International Focus Areas, with this particular endeavor falling under the theme of “Environmental Enhancement for Improved Wellbeing.”

The project aims to cultivate surroundings conducive to promoting physical, mental, and emotional health, ultimately fostering an environment conducive to improving the economic circumstances of the institution over time.

Representatives from the Association of Uncle Eddie’s Home, including Ms. Yolanda James, President; Mrs. Denise Bentinck, Vice President; and Mrs. Christine Hales, Administrator, joined Mr. Pompey, along with Ms. Judy Semple-Joseph, Service Projects Director, and Mr. Jagdesh Haripershad, President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central, in signing the MOU.

For further details about the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central and its community initiatives, interested parties are encouraged to visit the club’s social media platforms on Facebook and Instagram.
