Commander Robinson and team reach out grieving family

Region 2 Police Commander Superintendent Crystal Robinson and a team from her division yesterday made a donation to family of a deceased 4 month old baby Kaylee Atkinson.

Four-month-old Kaylee Atkinson was found dead by her mother during the wee hours of Sunday Morning last.

Reports are that the young child was pinned under the leg of her father, who was intoxicated on the said night.

The force also expressed its desire to aid in the infant’s burial. During a simple hand over yesterday, a hamper along with cash to aid in covering the funeral expense, was made to the now dead child’s relatives.

Commander Robinson, said she was made aware of the family’s adverse financial situation, when Tricia Atkinson contacted her last Tuesday.

“Tuesday night the mother called me and she was crying telling me about the situation as she asked for the release of her husband so I told her that we have to await the lawful process. It was at that time she indicated to me also, that they don’t have anything to eat or cook and she cannot afford to bury the child so we said ok we will assist to bury the child.” The Commander explained.

Police has told this publication that the father remains in police custody as they await  the Post Mortem Examination.
