Three Charged for the Murder of Aubrey Richardson

May 6, 2025 – Three men have been remanded to prison in connection with the September 2024 murder of Aubrey Richardson, which occurred at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The accused—19-year-old Carlton Antwan Sampson, also known as ‘Skeng’ or ‘Cartoon,’ of Circuitville, Soesdyke Highway; 26-year-old Dwayne Neil Winter, known as ‘Drizzle,’ of Section ‘C’ Block ‘Y’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara; and 36-year-old Brutus Taylor of 16th Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara—appeared before the Friendship Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 6.
The murder charge was formally read to them in court. As the offence is indictable, the men were not required to enter a plea. Magistrate proceedings resulted in all three being remanded to prison pending further hearings.
The case has been adjourned until May 30, 2025.
61-year-old Aubrey Richardson, also known as ‘Goobny,’ of Kuru-Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway was shot on August 24, 2024, at a popular shop in Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Richardson was reportedly at the location conversing with a friend when two armed bandits entered the premises, pretending to be customers.
During the robbery, he was held at gunpoint and shot in the back. The assailants then turned their attention to the shop owner, robbing the establishment before fleeing the scene.
Richardson succumbed to his injuries on September 5, 2024, after battling for nearly two weeks. His death prompted a full-scale investigation, which eventually led to the arrest and charging of the three suspects.
