‘Crab’ to stand trial for murdering 7-Y-O Jeremiah Gustave

February 3 2025
Odel Garnett, also known as “Crab,” has been formally committed to stand trial in the High Court for the murder of seven-year-old Jeremiah Gustave, who died after being struck by a stray bullet during a shooting incident in Charlestown.
Garnett, was arrested and charged with murder.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, he was committed to stand trial at the next practicable sitting of the High Court following a Preliminary Inquiry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court (GMC 3).
The ruling was made by Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore, after several witnesses testified and multiple exhibits were presented in court.
The case was prosecuted by Sergeant Lacon.
The murder charge stems from a tragic shooting that occurred on July 9, 2024, on Charles Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.
At the time, six-year-old Jeremiah Gustave was sitting at his mother’s food stall when an altercation between Garnett and another suspect, Marlon Christopher Wilburg, also known as “Mice Man,” reportedly escalated into gunfire.
During the incident, Jeremiah was struck in the head by a stray bullet and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in critical condition.
He underwent emergency surgery and spent months in and out of medical care, including time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on life support.
Although he was later discharged, Jeremiah ultimately succumbed to his injuries on March 29, 2025, at his home on Charles Street, Charlestown.
Following his death, the charge against Garnett was upgraded from attempted murder to murder.
Initially, both Garnett and Wilburg were charged in connection with the shooting.
Further updates on the case are expected as it proceeds to the High Court.
