A 26-year-old Laborer, Leroy Dey of Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust was murdered by his 30-year-old reputed wife who has been identified as Shaneiza Clarke. The couple resides together.

According to the police report, the victim and suspect were living together for approximately three (3) years and they would always have misunderstandings which would lead to fights.

Last evening at about 23:00h, after four days, the deceased returned home where an argument occurred pertaining to paying their landlord’s rent. A scruffle ensued between the couple. Dey reportedly dealt the suspect a slap to the left side of her face and picked up a piece of wood which he used to lash her about her body. That resulted in the woman receiving injuries.

The woman then picked up a knife from the kitchen and she stabbed the man to his left side chest.

Dey left in route to the Stabroek Market area but collapsed whilst walking on Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust between Hadfield and Leopold.

Police said an ambulance was summoned and he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital and admitted to the Critical Bay in the Emergency Department. He was rushed into the Theatre to undergo surgery but later succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 9:25h on Wednesday.

The suspect was later taken to the Brickdam Police Station to make a report where she was arrested and later escorted to the Georgetwon Hospital. She was examined and treated from the injuries she received as investigation continues.
