25-Y-O Soldier Remanded on Rape Charge Involving 13-Y-O

A 25-year-old soldier from Belle View, West Coast Berbice, has been remanded to prison after being charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

The accused, Ewart Nicholson, was arrested on August 19, 2025, and appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 26.

The charge was formally read to him, but he was not required to enter a plea.

Nicholson is accused of committing the offence sometime between May 1 and May 31, 2025, in Region Eight.

He has been remanded to prison until September 23, 2025, when the matter is scheduled to be called again.
