Cuban national executed on Forshaw Street

A 23-year-old Cuban national was shot and killed early Sunday morning outside a business establishment on Forshaw Street, Queenstown, Georgetown.
Dead is Dainier Vegas Infante, a janitor employed at the establishment and a resident of Alexander Village, Georgetown.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 05:45 hrs when four men arrived in the area. One of the men, who was reportedly armed with a handgun, approached two individuals who were seated outside the business and began speaking with them.
Shortly after, Infante reportedly exited the building and approached the group when a shot was fired in his direction. He collapsed on the roadway as the suspects fled the scene in separate vehicles.
Medical personnel later pronounced him dead at the scene. His body was subsequently taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Investigators later identified and intercepted a vehicle believed to have been linked to the incident. A 45-year-old woman from Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was taken into custody as part of ongoing investigations.
Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage as efforts continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
