Man Admits to Murdering Ex-Girlfriend as 9-Y-O Watched

Terrence Thomas, 36, known by the alias ‘Oosh,’ has pleaded guilty to the 2022 murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Loretha Simon—a crime committed in front of the victim’s nine-year-old sister.
Thomas appeared recently at the High Court in Demerara before Justice Priscilla Chandra-Hanif, where he admitted to the capital offence.
His sentencing has been set for August 18, 2025.
Prosecutor Darin Chan, representing the State, outlined the chilling details of the case.
The fatal stabbing occurred shortly after midday on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Sophia, Greater Georgetown home of Simon’s mother.
Simon, who was 28 years old and expecting a child, had gone to visit her mother and was preparing to cook a meal when Thomas attacked her.
He stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the scene, leaving the murder weapon behind.
