MV BARIMA DISTRESS: Couple, toddler still missing

Cleriannys Valenzuela, 23, Argenys Williams, 29, and two-year-old Argelys Williams Valenzuela are among the passengers who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
The family, who reside in Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, were travelling to Region One to visit relatives in Mabaruma.
Adrian Valenzuela, cousin of Cleriannys Valenzuela says the couple worked in the Mahaica area and had boarded the vessel as they made their way to spend time with family in the North West Region.
