MV BARIMA DISTRESS: 16-Y-O passenger still unaccounted for

Nelly Dusburry, a 16-year-old who recently completed her CXC examinations, is among the persons who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
Her cousin, Marlon Hercules, told BIG Smith News Watch that Dusburry, who is currently unemployed, had travelled with two friends and was staying at the Amerindian Hostel while in Georgetown.
Hercules said Dusburry had travelled to Georgetown with her mother to assist her following surgery.
He added that her mother remains in Georgetown as the family awaits further information on the teenagerβs whereabouts.
