The Launching was done on Wednesday at the Arthur Chung Conference Center

The National Population and Housing Census 2022 is being considered as one that may be even more important than the previous ones conducted given the current direction in which Guyana is going economically.

President Irfaan Ali on Wednesday while addressing the launch of the Census made it clear that the data gathered from the census will determine Guyana’s developmental agenda for years to come.

The President was at the time speaking at the Launching of the Census which was done at the Arthur Chung Conference Center

September 15 is National Census Day which is being observed under the theme “We Countin We” The Census is being done by the Bureau of Statistics.

Importantly, he noted that those providing information to members of the Census team should do so with honesty and clarity as each person’s information is important to shape the government’s formulation of projects and policies.

Who lives where, the number of persons between a particular age group, those with disabilities, profession, and skills are among the information a Census produces.

Roads, schools, budgetary allocation, housing and other developments and where those developments take place are usually guided by the population number in particular areas and that is what this Census seeks to do.
