Police are currently investigating the death of Kapil Ramsamuj, a 41-year-old Headmaster of Bonasika Creek Primary School, who also resided in the Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

According to reports from Ramsamuj’s sister, Vimla, her brother allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on August 12, 2024.

Following the incident, Ramsamuj was rushed to Leonora Cottage Hospital before being transferred to West Demerara Regional Hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to the effects of the poison later that evening.

Vimla recounted that she was at home when she received a distressing call informing her that her brother had ingested poison. She immediately went to Parika Police Station to report the incident.

While there, at approximately 7:40 PM, she received another phone call informing her that her brother had passed away at the hospital.

Ramsamuj’s body is currently being held at Ezekiel Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, August 16, 2024. The police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
