July 19 2026
23-Y-O Leonard Persaud, a resident of White Water Creek, Region One, is among the persons who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
His sister, Indera Persaud, told BIG Smith News Watch that Persaud had travelled to Georgetown in search of employment and was returning home to White Water Creek when he boarded the vessel.
Persaud, a former member of the Guyana Police Force, has not yet been found, and his family is awaiting further information on his whereabouts.
