$15M gov’t investment to strengthen community policing

Community Policing Groups (CPGs) across five regions have received a major boost with the distribution of five all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) under a $15 million government investment aimed at improving public safety and emergency response.

The ATVs were handed over during a ceremony at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Brickdam office, where Deputy Permanent Secretary Dwayne Adams presented the vehicles to CPGs serving Mabaruma (Region One), Onderneeming Sand Pit (Region Two), Wakenaam (Zeelandia) (Region Three), Cotton Tree (Region Five), and Toka (Region Nine).

The new Kawasaki ATVs are expected to improve mobility for routine patrols, provide better access to remote communities, and enhance emergency response capabilities.

The Ministry said the vehicles will also strengthen the work of Community Policing Groups as they continue to support the Guyana Police Force and local stakeholders in crime prevention and community safety.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s ongoing investment in community policing and efforts to enhance public safety across Guyana.
