A security guard who police said confessed to killing a 53-year-old Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara woman  was on Monday remanded to prison for the crime. 47-year-old Ravindra Ramdeen of 481 9th Street Cummings Lodge appeared before Magistrate Alisha George at the Sparedaam Magistrate’s Courts.

He was not required to plea to the indictable charge which stated that on December 11, 2020, at Eight Street, South Cummings Lodge,  he murdered Marilyn Singh known as ‘Miss Jean’ during the furtherance of rape. The father of three was remanded to prison until February 1, 2021.

According to reports, the security guard who is the husband of the now dead woman’s step-niece told police ranks that he shared a relationship with Singh. The man allegedly told ranks he visited the woman and they were engaging in sexual intercourse.

He stated that while they were having sex, the woman hit her head and told him she no longer wants to continue.   Ramdeen then became angry and strangled the woman. The woman’s brother later found her lifeless body when he visited her home. He then reported the matter to Turkeyen Police Station.
