Dead: Robert Bizzeth known as “Brick” or “Channa Man”,

A 40-year-old man who is accused of fatally stabbing a vendor who sold cooked chick peas also called “channa” during an argument over the placement of stall was on Monday charged with murder and remanded to prison.

Kimbia James Prescod called “Bow Life” and “Moon Light”, of Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Prescod was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on June 26, 2021, at Stabroek Market Square, Georgetown, he murdered Robert Bizzeth known as “Brick” or “Channa Man”, age 35, of Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt.

Prescod, who sells umbrellas, was remanded to prison until July 29.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that Prescod and the now-deceased were both vendors at the Stabroek Square.

On the day in question,  at around 16:40hrs, Bizzeth and  Prescod argued about the placement of Bizzeth’s stall. During the argument, Bizzeth whipped out a “jucker” and threatened Prescod. Prescod then retaliated by pushing Bizzeth to the ground.

Prescod pulled out a knife. The argument continued and Bizzeth, who was armed with an axe, chased after Prescod who was still carrying the knife.

The court heard  Prescod fell to the ground and Bizzeth stopped chasing him. As Bizzeth walked away, Prescod dealt him several stabs about his body. An injured Bizzeth ran to the police mobile outpost where he fell to the ground.

He was immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. Prescod was later arrested at Camp and New Market Streets, Georgetown by an anti-crime patrol.
