The University of Guyana’s Students’ Society, under the leadership of President Shaquawn Gill, has partnered with the Isha Foundation to launch a series of yoga sessions aimed at supporting students as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sessions are designed to help students cope with the stress and mental health challenges that may arise from balancing work, school and family responsibilities.
According to President Gill, the yoga sessions are a proactive measure to ensure that students have access to tools and resources that can help them maintain good mental health during these challenging times.
“We know that many of our students are dealing with multiple responsibilities, and it can be overwhelming at times.
Yoga is a proven way to reduce stress and anxiety and improve overall well-being. By offering these sessions, we hope to support our students in maintaining good mental health and achieving their academic goals,” said President Gill.
The sessions are being held on campus and are open to all students. They are being led by certified yoga instructors from the Isha Foundation, who will guide students through various yoga postures and breathing exercises. The instructors will also provide tips on how to integrate yoga into their daily routines and how to use it as a tool for managing stress.
The initiative has been well-received by students, many of whom have expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the yoga sessions.
The University of Guyana Student Society and the Isha Foundation plan to continue the yoga sessions throughout the academic year, with the goal of supporting as many students as possible in maintaining good mental health and achieving academic success.
