The Digicel Under 18 Tournament has long been a breeding ground for talented young footballers in the region, and this year’s edition promises to be no exception.

With a revamped format aimed at increasing excitement and raising the level of competition, the tournament organisers are committed to providing an unforgettable experience for both players and fans.

Troy Mendonca, representative of Petra, told attendees at a press conference today “We are witnessing a new era of youth football in our region,”

“The Digicel Under 18 Tournament has been a pivotal stepping stone for many young athletes, and its commitment to promoting talent and sportsmanship is commendable,” He added.

He emphasized that the Digicel Under 18 Tournament has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing talent, providing a crucial platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and progress in their careers.

Mendonca went on to express his appreciation for the new tournament format, which introduces the Round of 16 stage. He believes that this change will elevate the level of competition, allowing for thrilling matches and showcasing the best young talents in the region.

While discussing the tournament’s growth and development, he asserted that maintaining the integrity of the competition remains a top priority for all involved parties.

“I am confident that the new format will create a heightened sense of excitement among players and fans alike,” Mendonca continued. “But it is equally important to preserve the essence of fair play and integrity, ensuring that the tournament continues to be a competitive and respected event,” He noted.

As the press conference reached its crescendo, the handing over of the team jerseys to the participating Schools further intensified the anticipation surrounding the tournament. The jerseys, symbolizing unity and team spirit, served as a reminder of the young players’ dreams and aspirations.

With the Digicel Under-18 Tournament set to kick off later today, fans across the region eagerly await the action-packed matches, showcasing the immense talent and passion of these young athletes.
