ANUG: Kian Jabour reinstated after assault charge withdrawn

A  New  and  United  Guyana (ANUG) in a statement on Tuesday said recognising that the assault charge filed against its Executive Member Mr. Kian Jabour was withdrawn, he has now been reinstated in the party.

Jabour was formally charged with assault on February 18th, 2022 before the Magistrate’s court, a charge to which he pled not guilty. He was placed on $20,000 bail.

Given the seriousness of the charge, ANUG had released a statement in which it noted that the party’s position is that Jabour should withdraw from all activities relating to ANUG until the conclusion of the proceedings which was pending against him.

However, the charge was withdrawn by the complainant. In a social media post, she later said the situation was unfortunate and apologised.

“Informed of these developments, A New and United Guyana is happy to welcome Mr. Jabour back to active participation in the party’s executive. As stated initially by the party and reiterated, we believe in the pillars of respect for individual rights, as well as the premise of innocence until proven otherwise,” the party said.
