Magistrate sends Automobile scammer to jail

October 16, 2024

36-year-old Omeca Primo of Central Amelia’s Wards Linden, Proprietress of Primo’s Imports and Taxi Service was arrested Wednesday morning by the police and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters where a fraud probe has commenced into her and her operations.

For months, several persons have taken to social media expressing frustration that they have purchased vehicles through the woman’s company but have been experiencing several challenges including non-delivery and after-sales defects.

Primo was arrested following a vehicle seizure by BM Soat Auto Sales and Rental from a young man. That young man purchased the car from Primo months ago and was paying his monthly installments to her. What the young man was unaware of, was that Primo purchased the car on terms from BM Soat and resold it to him.

As the young man was paying his monthly installments to Omeca Primo, she was not remitting that to BM Soat as part of her contractual arrangement with that company, the arrears went up to more than eight hundred thousand dollars and the car was seized.

This publication was informed that Omeca Primo purchased several vehicles from BM Soat in her name, the name of her company, and in the name of relatives and then resold those vehicles to persons.

At the moment, the police have more than eighteen reports from persons who have purchased cars from the woman and those persons hail mostly from Regions 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10.

Most of the reports against Primo were made at the Brickdam Police Station but the matters have now been taken over by the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Persons who have purchased vehicles from the woman and or company and who did not make previous reports, and those who purchased vehicles from the woman and are still paying for them, are asked to make urgent contact with the police in your respective Divisions.
