Several persons were injured on Monday following a serious head-on collision along the West Bank Demerara public road at La Grange, involving a bus operated by Sheriff Security and a motorcar.

Reports indicate that the bus, which was transporting security officers, overturned after the collision.

Eyewitness accounts allege that the vehicle was being driven at a high speed and allegedly veered into the path of the oncoming car.

The driver of the car reportedly attempted to avoid impact by bringing the vehicle to a stop, but a collision occurred.

The impact left multiple persons lying motionless on the roadway as emergency response efforts were initiated.

Several injured individuals were subsequently transported to hospital for medical treatment.

In a statement, Sheriff Security said its officers involved in the crash are in stable condition and receiving care.

The company also noted that it is cooperating with authorities as investigations continue, while indicating that preliminary information suggests the collision may have been caused by another vehicle impeding the bus’s lane.

Further details remain under investigation.
