Businessman Shahab Hack and his son Zahid Hack hand over traffic equipment to Deputy Commissioner Clifton Hicken recently.

Several businesses have stepped forward to assist the Guyana Police Force in returning the operations of the Brickdam Police Station to a comfortable working environment and with the necessary tools.

On October 2, 2021, a fire devastated the Brickdam Police Station complex, destroying over 80% of the facility.

Recently, Shahab Hack, a businessman of Georgetown and a road safety advocate, donated in excess of 48 traffic wands and 24 reflector vests to the Force. The donation was received by Deputy Commissioner “Operations” Clifton Hickens in his Eve Leary office, in the presence of the Force’s Traffic Officer Superintendent Ramesh Ashram.

The businessman in his brief remarks commended the hierarchy of the GPF who lent support to those affected by the blaze and the ranks who sough to put immediate systems in place to continue serving the public.

Mr. Hack encourages other business entities to come forward and give support to the organization.

The Deputy Commissioner Hicken noted that the donation from the businessman was timely and expressed gratitude for his continued support and assured that the equipment will be used for its intended purpose.

In addition, another businessman Ashraf Ali-Jahoor who owns the Ashiek and Son Motor Supplies in Berbice, Region 6, donated ten (10) fans and three (3) microwaves to the Brickdam Police Station. The items were handed over to Superintendent John Barker at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Headquarters, Brickdam.

The police have since received several other items including water tanks, printers, computers, janitorial supplies and many more.
