Sandra Brescenio gets bail; scared to return home, NGO provides temporary safe house

ON BAIL WITH NO MONEY TO PAY: Pregnant mother of 4, Sandra Brescenio

Thirty-Two Year Old Sandra Brescenio, a mother of four with another one on the way is presently locked up and may have to remain there until July of this year if she is unable to post a bail of $350,000 for manslaughter.

Brescenio is the woman who was dragged from a church by her husband, placed to cook his food and who began chocking her and threatened to throw her into a burning fire that was being used to cook his food. He was drunk at the time and the woman was forced to defend herself resulting in her husband who she stabbed, later succumbing to his injuries.

On Friday when the matter was called in the Georgetown Magistrates Court before Magistrate Dylon Bess, a charge of manslaughter was read to Brescenio and bail was initially set at $350,000 but was then reduced to $300,000 after the woman who did not have legal representation due to a lack of finance, explained to the magistrate that she is five months pregnant and has no one to take care of her children.

On the day in question at Northwest District, Clarence Williams who was under the influence of alcohol pulled the woman out of a church service, ordered her to cook and then began assaulting her while threatening to push her into the burning fire on which his food was being cooked. He then approached the woman and began chocking her and she managed to get her hands on a knife which she used to defend herself.

“He was choking me hard and I couldn’t breathe and the only thing I had in my hand was the knife so I used it to make him loose, I didn’t mean to kill him, At first I was scared and confused after he died, but I overcame my fear and decided to face the reality and cooperate with the police, Every time he gets drunk he would beat me and threaten to kill me, at one time he had his mother hold me down for him to beat me” The woman explained to BIG Smith News Watch in an exclusive interview after court on Friday.

The woman told this publication that she has no clue as to who will post her bail. She related that she has no relatives living in Georgetown and no contact with her relatives who live in Moruca.

Brescenio maintained that the killing of her husband was accidental but had she not defended herself, she would have been the woman to be killed. She explained that after she stabbed her husband to have him lose her, she fell to the ground in an unconscious state and when she was revived, she found him bleeding on the bed and was left in a state of shock.

After getting over the shock, the woman said that she raised an alarm that Williams was bleeding out and her mother and friends came over to assist and get the man medical attention.

Brescenio said she is not afraid of a trial for her crime but she is afraid of what will happen to or who would be charged with watching over her four children when she is gone, as well as her unborn child when it is finally born.

The woman did also explain that her husband was a nice person but of late he became very abusive whenever he is under the influence of alcohol.

Persons desirous of supporting the cause of posting bail for Sandra Brescenio can contact the United Bridge Builders Mission on 592 667- 4640 or unitedbridgebuilders@gmail.com
