A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 29-year-old Jagadhwar Mohan, a construction worker of Lot 15 Lusignan Pasture, East Coast Demerara, has confirmed that he died from drowning.

The examination was carried out on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh. Following the autopsy, Mohan’s body was handed over to his relatives to facilitate funeral arrangements.

Mohan was believed to have drowned last Friday while picking lotus leaves in a trench at Annandale, East Coast Demerara.

Reports indicate that Mohan, who was known in the area and worked as a painter and handyman, entered the trench to collect lotus leaves but failed to resurface. Residents later raised an alarm after noticing his prolonged absence.

Community members described him as a familiar face in Lusignan and Annandale.
