Man Sentenced to 11years For Attempted Murder of Co-Worker

November 27 2024 – Ryan Lowe, 39, has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison for the attempted murder
of his co-worker in a 2016 attack that left the victim with life-altering injuries.
Justice Sandil Kissoon delivered the sentence on Monday at the Demerara High Court, following Lowe’s guilty plea.
The violent incident occurred on November 23, 2016, at the Haags Bosch landfill site in Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
According to reports, Cummings was asleep at the worksite when Lowe, who had been consuming alcohol nearby, approached and accused him of theft.
The situation escalated as Lowe armed himself with a knife and launched a vicious assault, inflicting multiple stab wounds. One of the injuries was so severe it led to the amputation of one of Cummings’ arms.
Lowe fled the scene and evaded capture for nearly three years before law enforcement apprehended him in late 2019.
During sentencing, Justice Kissoon highlighted the brutality of Lowe’s actions and their devastating impact on the victim’s physical and emotional well-being.
The court acknowledged the premeditated nature of the assault, noting that Cummings’ injuries had significantly altered the course of his life.
