Injured policeman Clive Clarke

A police Sergeant was on Thursday morning rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment after he accidentally shot himself in the leg while in a Guyana Police Force patrol vehicle.

Treated for an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound is police sergeant Clive Clarke who is stationed at the Brickdam Police Station Impact Base.

BIG Smith News Watch has been told that Clarke and his ranks were on active duty when they decided to stop and take a drink at a bar on Louisa Row, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

It was further communicated to this publication that during the process of a taking their fine drink, the unit was summoned to respond to a situation and as the ranks got into the patrol vehicle, the weapon which the sergeant was at the time carrying in his leg holster went off.

We were informed that the weapon in sergeant Clarke’s possession at the time was a 9MM pistol.

The very policeman back in 2019, was shot in the leg during an operation on Norton Street when bandits invaded the home of a construction during a robbery.

During that operation, there was a standoff for almost one hour with the police and bandits as bullets trade. When dust settled, three bandits were killed and Clerke who was corporal at the time, was nursing a gunshot wound to the leg.
