Ranks of the Guyana Police Force have destroyed four large-scale cannabis farms valued at more than $70 million during a joint eradication exercise conducted on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the Kuyarakuru Creek and Sabina Point areas of the Upper Berbice River.

The operation, which was carried out between 04:00 hrs and 18:30 hrs, involved officers from the Narcotics Branch and Regional Division #6 and was led by gazetted officers.

During the exercise, police discovered four separate cannabis farms spanning approximately sixteen (16) acres. The farms contained an estimated 95,000 cannabis plants measuring between two (2) and seven (7) feet in height.

Ranks also uncovered a makeshift camp measuring 30 by 20 feet, which housed approximately 90 pounds of dried cannabis. Both the camp and all cannabis plants were subsequently destroyed by fire.

According to police, the total estimated street value of the narcotics destroyed amounts to $70,968,116, with the cannabis plants valued at $32,186,000 and the dried cannabis valued at $38,782,116.

No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
