December 5 2025

The 2025 One Guyana Christmas Village and Supermarket was officially opened on Friday evening on Main Street, ushering in the holiday season with vibrant lights, cultural displays, and a strong message of unity from President Dr Irfaan Ali.

The opening ceremony drew large crowds as families explored the illuminated village, festive stalls, and expanded supermarket area.

President Ali highlighted the event as more than a seasonal celebration, describing it as a national symbol of togetherness, compassion, and the shared spirit of community.

He noted that Guyana’s Christmas traditions continue to stand out globally, shaped by the country’s multicultural identity and collective sense of belonging.

According to the President, the Christmas Village reflects the closeness that strengthens communities and, ultimately, the nation.

He also stressed the importance of choosing locally made goods during the season, emphasising that supporting local businesses uplifts families, strengthens communities, and reinforces patriotism.

The President encouraged citizens to carry the message of harmony beyond the festivities, reminding the gathering that the unity showcased during the holidays should be reflected in daily acts of kindness and mutual support.

The Christmas Village and Supermarket will remain open throughout the holiday season, offering entertainment, shopping, and cultural experiences for Guyanese and visitors alike.
