GPF Honours Outstanding Officers for 2025 at Awards Ceremony

December 5 2025
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) today hosted its annual Christmas Awards Ceremony at the Officers Mess, Eve Leary, recognising ranks for their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary service throughout 2025.
Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken, addressing the gathering, reaffirmed the Force’s responsibility to demonstrate unwavering commitment to the people of Guyana.
He said the GPF has moved beyond simply documenting achievements and is now advancing a period of meaningful transformation guided by a clear strategic vision.
This reform agenda, he noted, focuses on strengthening professionalism, deepening public partnerships, and building a Force where integrity and accountability are standard operational principles.
Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond also commended the awardees, emphasising that excellence is not an occasional act but a consistent commitment. She noted that with Guyana undergoing rapid change, policing must evolve at the same pace.
The Minister urged ranks to remain adaptable, professional, fair, community-focused, and trusted. With the Christmas season approaching, she encouraged all officers to recommit to the oath they took.
This year’s top honour, Best Cop 2025, was awarded to Deputy Superintendent Fiona Fredericks, head of the Police Narcotics Branch and a native of Hosororo, Region One. Fredericks, who leads a predominantly male unit, said the recognition reflects the collective resilience and dedication of her team.
Assistant Superintendent Henry of the Criminal Investigations Department was named runner-up for Best Cop.
Awards were also presented to the Best Cop in every policing division and branch, with all recipients receiving cash and prizes in recognition of their service.
