Fire destroys home at Farm EBD

Firefighters responded to a fire at Lot 87, Farm, East Bank Demerara, where a two-storey concrete building was engulfed in flames.
The building housed two families—the landlord, who lived on the upper flat, and tenants occupying the lower flat.
Both families reportedly lost everything in the blaze and are now left homeless.
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
The Guyana Fire Service said Water Tender #127 from the Diamond Fire Station and Water Carrier #20 from the Eccles Fire Station, along with their crews, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire concentrated on the upper floor of the building.
Crews quickly brought the blaze under control and contained it to the upper floor, preventing it from spreading to a nearby structure.
The fire was subsequently extinguished, and firefighters carried out mopping-up operations to ensure that no hotspots remained.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
