The newly elected executive committee of the Guyana/China Friendship Society (GCFS) paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of China to Guyana, H.E Ambassador Guo Hai Yan and the esteemed Councilors of the Chinese Embassy in Guyana last week.

Among the areas discussed were the promotion of university opportunities in China for Guyanese citizens, the introduction of traditional Chinese medicine, and sports/martial arts such as Wushu and Tai Chi.

The Ambassador announced her support for the society and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange programs.

She highlighted the long-standing friendship between China and Guyana and expressed her confidence in the society’s role in deepening those connections.

The courtesy call, led by newly elected GCFS President Mr. Paul Cheong, was aimed at introducing the new executive committee and identifying areas in which the two sides can cooperate to nurture closer friendship and mutual cultural exchange between Guyana and China.
