Le Ressouvenir Accident Claims Life of 71-Year-Old Pedestrian

Police are investigating a fatal road accident that occurred around 23:45 hrs on Friday, June 27, 2025, along the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara. The incident claimed the life of 71-year-old pensioner Ramroop Sadaram, of Lot 273 Success Housing Scheme, ECD.
The accident involved motor car #PAB 9943, driven by a 48-year-old businessman of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara; a pedestrian, now deceased; and motorcycle #CN 8838, which was being ridden by a 27-year-old construction worker from Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD.
According to initial reports, the motor car was proceeding east along the northern driving lane when the driver allegedly heard the loud revving of a motorcycle, looked into his wing mirror, and felt an impact to both the front and rear of his vehicle.
Upon stopping, the driver reportedly saw two men lying on the roadway with visible injuries — one identified as the motorcyclist and the other as the pedestrian. Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene and pronounced the 71-year-old pedestrian dead. The injured motorcyclist was transported in a conscious state to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains hospitalised and is receiving medical attention.
The driver of the car was taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigation. A breathalyser test conducted on him returned readings of 0.017% and 0.019% alcohol concentration.
Investigations are ongoing.
