Kumaka man among missing MV Barima crew

Dwayne Forbes, a 20-year-old resident of Kumaka Waterfront, Region One, is among the crew members who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
His relative, Kibwe Copeland, told BIG Smith News Watch that Forbes had been working on the vessel for more than two years.
Copeland said the family received a photograph of Forbes shortly before the vessel departed, and they are now awaiting further information on his whereabouts following the incident.
