Because she allegedly failed to pay him after he had weeded her yard, a 26 year old Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara man known as ‘Boyie,’ stabbed 86 year old Agnes Dilon to death as she lay in her bed.

Big Smith News Watch was informed that police obtained a chilling confession on Sunday, less than 24 hours after arresting the suspect, who is a construction worker from Second Street, Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara.

Detectives, acting on information, arrested ‘Boyie’ on Saturday, July 2.

According to police, “on Sunday, July 3, he was interviewed by investigators and admitted, after being cautioned, to stabbing the deceased for refusing to pay for work (weeding) done by him in her yard. A caution statement and a video interview were obtained from him.”

He later accompanied investigators to the scene and pointed out how and where he gained access into the victim’s home. He also pointed out where he had thrown the murder weapon.

A search was carried in the area where he allegedly threw the murder weapon, but because of the dense vegetation same was not recovered.

It is unclear whether two other individuals who were initially detained are still in custody.

Dilon was murdered in her Lot 32 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara apartment between Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30.

Mrs. Dilon’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on her bed, with suspected stab wounds to her left and right upper chest.

She also appeared to have been chopped on her right hand and the right side of her face.

The pensioner lived alone in the lower flat of the two storey property, while the landlady resides in the upper flat.

Mrs. Dilon was reportedly last seen washing clothes at around 17.00 hrs on Wednesday, June 29.

She was found after the landlady became concerned when she did not see Mrs. Dillon the following day. When calls to the pensioner’s phone also went unanswered, she contacted a neighbour. He pried a window and saw the elderly woman’s body on her bed.
