Kaneville Man Stabbed to Death Following Dispute
May 8, 2025 – Police are investigating the alleged murder of 48-year-old Derick Sylvester Prostea, who was fatally stabbed during a confrontation along the Grove Public Road on Wednesday evening.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 18:45 hrs following a dispute between Prostea, of Back Street, Kaneville, and a 25-year-old man from Ally Street, also in Kaneville.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into violence, during which Prostea sustained a stab wound to his right shoulder.
Emergency services were summoned, and Prostea was transported to the Diamond Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Following swift police action, a suspect was apprehended in the Kaneville area shortly after the incident. He remains in custody and is assisting investigators as the probe continues.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the altercation, and investigations are ongoing.
