DEAD: 19-year-old Kameel Calistro

A man who is accused of murdering a 19-year-old woman following an argument with her cousin over who can dance better, has been charged and remanded to prison.

Twenty-year-old Kristophe Stoll, of Swan, Kuru Kururu, Sosedkye/Linden Highway, appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Courts.

Stoll was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on March 14, 2021, at Swan, Kuru Kururu, Sosedkye/Linden Highway, he murdered 19-year-old Kameel Calistro.

He will make his next court appearance on April 17, 2021.

According to reports, Stoll and Calistro were at a birthnight party consuming alcohol and dancing to music being played from a vehicle that was parked in front of an unfenced yard.

At the time, there were several other persons at the event consuming alcohol and dancing. At around 02:00hrs, Stoll and relatives of Calistro began arguing over who is the better dancer amongst the two females.

The argument led to Stoll pulling a knife from his right side waist and attempting to stab 29-year-old Adolph Joseph, the cousin of Calistro.

Calistro upon seeing what was transpiring intervened and it was then that Stoll stabbed her to the left side abdomen.

The young mother of two collapsed and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The matter was reported and Stoll was arrested for the offence. The murder weapon was found in his possession.
