Dinish Deonarine, also known as Anil, a 33-year-old welder from Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, has been formally charged with unlawful possession in connection with a quantity of suspected stolen items found at his residence.

Deonarine was arrested on July 23, 2025, following a police cordon-and-search operation at his home. The operation was conducted by Inspector Sardinha, Sergeant Tyndall, Woman Detective Corporal Clarke, and a team of police ranks, who were acting on intelligence related to stolen property and illegal items.

During the search, police reportedly discovered several items suspected to have been stolen, including:

Six vehicle batteries

Three water pumps

Two pressure washers

Three solar lights

Two Allion motor vehicle grilles

Following the discovery, Deonarine was taken into custody and later charged with unlawful possession.

He appeared before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on July 28, where the charge was read to him. Deonarine pleaded not guilty and was granted $30,000 bail. The case has been adjourned until September 18, 2025.

Investigations into the origin of the recovered items are ongoing.
