The Kingdom of Spain honoured its most recent Honorary Consul from Guyana, Brian Tiwarie, at a special awards ceremony on the evening of Wednesday (November 16, 2022).

Mr. Tiwarie, a Guyanese businessman, served as Honorary Consul to Spain from 2011 to 2022 when he resigned.

He was presented with a plaque that read, “To Brian Tiwarie, Honorary Consul of Spain to Guyana Sept 2011-2022. With profound gratitude from the Embassy of Spain” by Spain’s ambassador Fernando Nogales Alvarez. This is just one of the many recognitions of Mr. Tiwarie’s contribution to his country and to the diplomatic community. He was also awarded for his service to many organizations including the Guyana Police Force, the government, and numerous civic organizations.

In 2004, the company he heads, BK International, was awarded the International Gold Star for Quality. The following year he was awarded the International Platinum Star for Quality.

In 2006, he received the World Quality Commitment International Award (Gold Category). One year later he was awarded the Arch of Europe for Commitment to Quality.
