Police in Regional Division are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) at a secondary school located on the Essequibo Coast on Wednesday February 4, 2026 about 10:46hrs.

Police ranks responded to a report made by school authorities and were handed several small transparent zip-lock bags containing a substance suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as “Molly,” which were found in the possession of two students and in a classroom.

The suspected narcotics were seized and weighed, amounting to a total of 5.82 grams, before being lodged.

The two juveniles a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were taken to the Police Station in the presence of school officials, their parents and a welfare officer. A 20-year-old male was subsequently arrested and placed into custody.

The 20-year-old remains in custody as investigations continues.
