Deputy Commissioner Maxine Graham

Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan on Wednesday told the press that he is not aware of any information in relation to Deputy Commissioner Maxine Graham.

He made the comments in response to questions from a newspaper journalist who made reference to a social media post which suggested that the country’s only female Deputy Commissioner of Police was complicit in some amount of wrong doings.

A social media post on the Facebook Page “Unofficial: The Voice” alleged among other things that the Deputy Commissioner facilitated Mark Grimond (the owner of a security company) with high-powered weapons.

“I will make no comment there because i am not aware of any of the allegations that you are talking about so i will like to put a halt there” Ramjattan said in response to further question in relation to Maxine Graham.

Grimond is presently before the courts charged with conspiracy to commit murder. In 2018 his Chief Security was arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed gun while at the time, being in possession of a licensed firearm.

BIG Smith Crime Watch has been informed that Deputy Graham reportedly only had an encounter with Grimond once, while serving as Deputy Commissioner Operations.

We are advised that in December 2018 during an operation of the Tactical Service Unit led by Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, who is supervised by Graham, the weapons inventory of a number of security service were examined and during that examination, it was found that several of the persons who were employed by Mark Grimond’s company, Mark Interior Communications, were being issued guns to perform security duties when they were either not Supernumerary Constables or did not have the presteps to carry arms and ammunition. This means that they were handling weapons without the necessary requirements.

Grimond was subsequently called into the force and cautioned about his company’s breach of protocol and the force facilitated training for the men who were being issued weapons by him to provide guard service although they had no pre-steps.

Since his arrest and subsequent remand to prison in relation to conspiracy to commit murder, the Police Force removed the weapons which were assigned to his security service as the facility prepares to close its doors in the face of uncertainty.
