The decomposed remains of a mother and child were this afternoon discovered in a house at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

The discovery was made at a house in Phase 3 Plantation Providence which was being rented for the woman and her daughter by her husband. It was the husband and a carpenter who made the discovery.

The dead have been identified as Petrous Ross 38 and her daughter, 13 Year old Gabrel Ross.

The woman’s husband, 58-year-old Hemanchal Latchman, said they have been married for the past five years, but would later separate. He said the separation was not a legally done one.

He explained that he last saw the woman in February when he visited the home to check on the woman and found her sitting in the home but was refusing to let him into the house.

According to him, he took a decision to stay away but after the owner of the home came into the country and requested to see the property he visited the home but got no response.

He decided to break the door down after it was discovered being locked from the inside. When the lock was broken, a strong-stench emanated  from the house which prompted the husband to call the police.
