“I have been living like this for years wanting to be accepted in society and not be judged about a situation that I had no control over. I was abused by a male cousin of mine sexually when I was 7 years old, an encounter I can remember vividly and would love to have this memory removed” the budding sports personality told BIG Smith News Watch.

This publication has agreed with the athlete not to mention his real name. As such, we will refer to him as ‘Robert’ in this publication henceforth.

‘Robert’ has indicated that he understands the stigma associated with being abused and the way that society labels and look down on victims of such incidents and mentally, he is not prepared for that sort of attention but wanted to share his experience with the public.

Speaking with BIG Smith News Watch, ‘Robert’ believes that each day, young men are molested by other men in whose care they are placed and that the situation been to be arrested through a multi-stakeholder approach.

“The trauma I faced made me want to commit suicide because I was ashamed as a man and a boy at that time but I chose to live, hiding this scar at that tender age. Even now I still struggle with the whole Fact that this was done to me” ‘Robert’ told BIG Smith News Watch.

He further stated during his interview with BIG Smith News Watch… “The extent this thing affected me resulted in me communicating with females differently”.

‘Robert’ said the only way he has been able to fine solace as a young man is in sports and spending more time with his partner. He said he often suffer bouts of depression when in quiet moments.

“Sharing this with my family is hard but it is something I hope to be able to do one day” ‘Robert’
