Move On Guyana Inc. which was launched just over a ago said that it does not rule out emerging into a political parry and becoming actively involved in politics if it feels that course of action is needed in order to effect the change it hopes to see for young people and Guyana as a hold.
This was confirmed by Vice President of the Group Dr. John Anderson on the side-lines of an engagement which was held between the group and Minister of Youth Affairs Hon. Simona Broomes over the weekend.
“Move on Guyana does not have immediate aspirations of emerging into a political party. Move on Guyana wants to work with any government and leadership that promotes the ideals of Move on Guyana, those meaning; promoting youth development, national development and those policies which would benefit Guyana” Dr. Anderson stated.
Pressed further for clarity on his statement, he continued;
“We can’t see into the future, we believe that our leaders have the capacity and capabilities of fulfilling those charter goals that we have and if that does not happen, we will continue to have engagements, weather we will emerge into a political party so for the future to decide; but definitely it’s not ruled out” according to the VP.
Since its formation, the group has met with several communities and representatives of government where according to Dr. Anderson, the issues and concerned raised by the young people over the last year was communicated to the respective government functionaries.

Asked about meetings with the political opposition, BIG Smith Crime Watch was told that those meetings have not yet been had but they are on the cards. Dr. Anderson was asked the reason for the group in its more than one year existence, only meeting with representatives of the government.
The MOG Vice President stated related that there are plans to meet with the political opposition including its leader Bharrat Jagdeo on the issue of Presidential Debates in the lead up to the 2020 elections as well as matters of addressing the racial divide as the country seeks to move forward from racial tensions.
BIG Smith Crime Watch questioned if the issue of racial tension was also raised with any of the leaders of the government benches with whom the group has so far met.
“We have not spoken to government on the issues of race but on the side lines we spoke with the Prime Minister on the issue of race and he was open to the discussion.” The group VP explained.
Asked about meetings with the prison, judiciary and Ethnic relations commission heads and broadcasting authority administrations, the group said those things are also on the cards.
He was asked the question taking into consideration that these agencies does have direct involvements with the way services and decisions affect young people in Guyana.
Minister of Youth Affairs Simona Broomes after meeting with the group told Big Smith Crime Watch that she met with the group given that they identified themselves as a youth group and that she committed to working with any group irrespective of race, political affiliation and background who have an interest with working with young people in the interest of nation building.
She said that she listened to their plans and what they have done and do plan to do in the future, she related that during her meeting with the group, no specific or concrete plans were put forward by the group as an area they wish to work collaboratively with her on.
