INTERPOL Issues Red Notice for Brazilian Wanted in Guyana for Murder

August 19 2025
The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has issued a Red Notice for Brazilian national Fernando Teles Pereira, who is wanted in Guyana for the murder of 21-year-old Venezuelan national Miguelys Centeno Gerdez.
The notice follows a request by the Guyana Police Force (GPF), seeking international assistance to track down Pereira, who fled the country after the crime.
According to a GFP report, investigations revealed that on February 5, 2025, Pereira, who was employed with W. Golding Logistics and Aggregate Company, picked up Centeno Gerdez at the Diamond Junction, East Bank Demerara, in motor lorry GAJ 8825.
Her body was discovered nearly a month later, on March 4, 2025, along 9 Miles Road. An autopsy confirmed she died from blunt trauma to the head.
Following the discovery, Pereira escaped Guyana and returned to Brazil.
The Red Notice, issued on behalf of the GPF, serves as a global alert to the 196 member countries of INTERPOL, requesting law enforcement agencies to locate and provisionally arrest Pereira pending further legal action.
This move marks a significant step in Guyana’s efforts to bring the suspect to justice and underscores the country’s collaboration with international policing bodies in tackling serious cross-border crimes.
