“I can’t take it anymore” – Wife of Motorcyclist Who Died in Berbice Crash

October 30 2025
Grief hangs heavy over the home of 31-year-old Dusshala Sookwah, the common-law wife of Azim Khan, who lost his life in a tragic early morning accident along the #2 Village Public Road, West Coast Berbice.
Khan, 32, was reportedly on his way to work when the incident occurred at around 5:46 hrs. Police reports indicate that he was riding motorcycle CR 3710 at a fast rate while negotiating a left turn when he lost control and slammed into a concrete fence.
The impact left Khan’s body motionless and badly injured. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Bath Regional Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Back at their home at Lot 352, Estate Road, Experiment, the atmosphere is one of disbelief and unbearable sorrow. Khan, an excavator operator at the Blairmont Estate, was the family’s sole breadwinner.
His sudden death has left his wife and three children, including a five-month-old baby girl, struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Fighting back tears, Sookwah told BIG Smith News Watch that her husband’s death feels like a nightmare she cannot wake up from.
“When I reach at the scene, I couldn’t face he. A taxi man drop me at #2, but I tell the man me nah come out cause me nah want see he. I see he motorbike alone damage up,” she recalled, her voice breaking.
Khan, described by his wife as a hardworking and loving father, had left home before dawn, as he usually did, determined to provide for his young family. He never made it back.
“I really feel terrible. I can’t take it anymore cause he left a little baby,” Sookwah lamented.
As investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the crash, the family is left grappling with the painful reality of life without him.
