A 55-year-old fisherman was discovered unresponsive in his boat on Monday afternoon at the 40 Feet Koker Dam in Unity Village, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.

Dead is Stephen Ragbeer, also known as “Cannon,” of Lancaster, Unity Village.

According to police reports, Ragbeer owned a fishing boat that was routinely docked at the koker after his daily fishing trips.

On Monday, he was reportedly informed that the vessel was taking in water and left to check on it.

Shortly after, around 4:00 p.m., residents reported seeing a man lying motionless inside a boat at the location.

Ragbeer was subsequently transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No visible injuries were observed on the body. His remains have since been taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Meanwhile, at the same location the search for 20-year-old Lyodisa Waldron, known as “Loyda,” and her fiance 31-year-old Andri Francis, called “Bobby,” is ongoing…

The pair disappeared under the harsh currents on Sunday during a family outing, it was reported that Waldron signalled for help, while Francis rushed to assist, they were both swept away.
