Gruesome Double Murder Unfolds in Region One Backdam

– Three Suspects in Custody

Police in Region One are investigating the alleged double murder of two residents of Barama River, Baramita — 24-year-old Mark Thomas and Wendy James — whose bodies were discovered in the New Star Backdam area, North West District (NWD).

The incident reportedly occurred on June 16, 2025. Following the crime, three suspects fled the area, prompting a search operation by ranks from Regional Police Division #1 between June 16 and 19.

The suspects have been identified as Kizzian Baird, a female of mixed ancestry; Junior Richmond, known as “Po-Pal”; and Ewart Wilson — both males of African descent. All three were captured in separate locations within the backdam.

Police confirmed that the suspects were interviewed on video and audio, and that witness statements have since linked them to the crime. The trio remains in custody as the investigation continues.

A post-mortem examination for the victims is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at Port Kaituma.
