Daughter, Son-in-Law Admit to Murder of Missing Woman

Police are investigating the alleged murder of Jenny Mohamed called ‘Baby’, a 46-year-old female Guyanese of East Indian descent, from Lot 368, Section ‘D’ Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara, who was reported missing on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at approximately 11:58 hrs, and was reportedly last seen at her residence around 06:15 hrs on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, by her husband Rasheed Mohamed.

Following the report, on June 13, 2025, a team of police ranks from the Vigilance Police Station visited the residence and a physical check was made around the yard; no disturbed soil was observed, and nearby persons were questioned, but no useful information was obtained.

However, further information from Jenny’s sister revealed that they communicated daily, the last being on June 10, 2025. Later that day and into the following days, she was unable to make further contact and learnt from the deceased’s husband that they had an argument with their daughter, on the night of June 9, 2025, during which Jenny reportedly told her daughter to move out. The husband claimed that he left for work the next morning, leaving his wife with their daughter and her (daughter’s) common-law husband.

On June 16, 2025, following further information, a police team revisited the non-pariel residence and upon entering, discovered suspected bloodstains on a couch, walls, and floor of the hall. Further stains were found in a northeastern bedroom and kitchen. All stains appeared to have been wiped out. A human blood field test was conducted and returned positive results. The residence was secured for forensic examination, and Jenny’s husband was detained.

Based on further information on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, ranks from the Vigilance Police Station conducted a cordon and search operation within the Vigilance Police Station District.

During the exercise, the deceased woman’s son-in-law, a 28-year-old Guyanese male of mixed ancestry, an Auto Electrician from Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara; and the deceased woman’s daughter, a 25-year-old Guyanese female of African descent, a housewife, residing at Non Pariel, were arrested and placed in custody.

On the said date, a forensic team returned to the residence and confirmed multiple areas within the home tested positive for human blood. A handwritten note, allegedly from Jenny, was found inside a notebook, which was deemed suspicious due to the contents.

Clean-up attempts were observed, and potential evidence, including blood-stained upholstery and swabs, were collected. A vehicle associated with the suspects was also examined, and strands of hair were recovered for testing.

Further interviews were conducted on the three suspects, and accounts were conflicting as to the deceased. Other relatives were interviewed and gave additional information to support the case of murder.

On June 19, 2025, while in custody, the deceased woman’s daughter, under further questioning, confessed that she and her common-law husband murdered the deceased on June 10th, 2025 and gave a detailed description of the killing, by stabbing and strangling Jenny with a rope. The body was subsequently wrapped in a garbage bag and tarpaulin, and then dumped in a trench along Eccles New Road, East Bank Demerara.

Jenny then led investigators to the dump site, where the decomposed body was recovered, bearing multiple stab wounds and a rope tied around the neck — all of which was done under video and audio recording. The scene was processed and documented.

Subsequent interviews and confrontations were held with the son-in-law and husband, where the son-in-law subsequently admitted and confirmed his role in the murder and disposal of the body.

The investigation, which began as a missing person report on June 12, 2025, tragically evolved into a full-scale murder case. Jenny Mohamed was confirmed to have been murdered at her residence on June 10, 2025, by her daughter and her daughter’s common-law husband. All three suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, and a file is being put together for legal advice to be sought.
