Glasgow, Fernandes crowned at NSC awards

Omari Glasgow and Nicolette Fernandes were crowned male and female athletes of the year for 2024 at the National Sports Commission awards ceremony on Saturday evening at the New Pegasus.
The black tie event was attended by the pinnacle of Guyana’s sports landscape in a night pure class and elegance.
Glasgow, for his football prowess was crowned the senior male athlete of the year while Fernandes took the female honour.
Guyana’s first female body building world champion, Rosanna Fung was presented with a special award for her recent world title and is easily the front runner for 2025’s female athlete of the year award.
Both Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Charles Ramson Jr and Minister within the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs lauded Guyana’s continued transformation and growth through international achievements and the growing infrastructure in Guyana.
