Garnett St. Shooting: Security guards unlicensed- GPF in statement

The Guyana Police Force has broken it’s silence on the shooting incident that took place Tuesday evening involving four security guards associated with a city businessman.
The police on Thursday evening released the images of the four men who have been in custody since Tuesday evening as well as the weapons which according to the police, the men were not licensed to carry.

“Police have arrested four persons and seized three Glock pistols as they investigate an alleged shooting incident (Discharging of Loaded Firearm) committed on Samora Haddaway, a 41-year-old driver from Timehri, which occurred at about 23:00 hrs. on August 06th, 2024, at Garnett and Middleton Street, Georgetown.” The police said in it’s statement.
According to the force, Haddaway was driving had just parked motor lorry GAG 1844 at the area where the shooting took place.
“The victim was then approached by five men, two armed with handguns, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The men started to hit the Lorry, and two of them pointed their firearms at Haddaway, which caused him to become fearful for his life and forced him to lie flat in the Lorry. The victim then heard several loud explosions, which appeared to be gunshots.” According to a police statement.

The Force said that after the police arrived on the scene, the men got into motorcar PAF 9078 and attempted to flee the scene but were cornered on Vlissingen Road after the getaway car suffered two burst tires.
“Those arrested were Stephan Ramdass, a 39-year-old from Great Diamond, EBD; Patrick Forbes, a 30-year-old from Wales Housing Scheme, WBD; Raji Chanderpaul, a 41-year-old from Better Hope, ECD; and Mahesh Budho, from Cummings Lodge, ECD. They were all asked if they held a Firearm license, and they all replied in the negative.” The police statement added.
Three Glock pistols (containing eleven (11), seventeen (17) and sixteen (16) matching rounds of ammunition, were seized pending the outcome of the investigation says the Guyana police Force.
by Thursday, Haddaway had arrive at a settlement agreement with the men concerning the incident. Approached for a comment on Thursday evening, Home Affairs Minister Robeson declined to offer any comment.
